COMPLETE AN APPROVED BASIC NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING PROGRAM (BNATP) for CNAs
Have successfully completed an Illinois approved CNA training program and pass a written competency test.
You may search for an approved training program in your area by visiting www.nurseaidetesting.com, heading STUDENT RESOURCES, subheading TRAINING PROGRAMS.
Once you have completed an approved BNAT Program, your training program will electronically submit your required information to the INACE program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Nurse Aide Testing Project. You should receive an email that directs you to the website where you will verify your eligibility, create an account and purchase a seat for testing. There are approximately 50 test sites across the state of Illinois where you may test. You may select a computer-based test (CBT) based on availability in your area. Directions for this process are available on this website under the heading EXAM REGISTRATION, subheading STUDENTS.
You have 12 months from the program completion date in order to pass the Illinois Nurse Assistant/Aide Competency Exam. If you fail the exam three times, you must retake a CNA training program.
